Asbestos is a highly dangerous mineral: a class one carcinogen
The Health and Safety Commission estimate 1.5 million properties in the UK require an asbestos survey in order to comply with current regulations
The purpose of the type 1 Asbestos Survey is to locate the presence and extent of any ACMs (Asbestos Containing Materials) in the premises, where reasonably practical, whilst deferring the need for sampling and analysis until a later time.
Our Asbestos Survey report will provide assessment on any material which is presumed to contain Asbestos.
The purpose and procedures in the type 2 Asbestos Survey are the same as a Type 1 Asbestos report, except that samples are taken of materials suspected of containing Asbestos.
The samples taken are then analysed by a UKAS accredited laboratory and the results used to compile a register of the ACMs within the premises. The condition of each ACM is assessed and recommendations made regarding their future management.
This survey may involve destructive inspection to so as to gain access to all areas that are suspected of contacting ACMs and is designed to be used as a basis for tendering the removal of all ACMs from the premises prior to demolition or major refurbishment work.
Samples will be taken of suspect ACMs and analysed by a UKAS accredited laboratory. However, the survey does not assess the condition of the asbestos, other than to note areas of damage or where additional Asbestos debris may be expected to be present.
